ID CO CA VA COLD

I got a text this morning saying things were delayed because of the weather. Which made me slightly worried because Nathan decided to run to work today and then a few more miles (10 miles total while the rest of the city is claiming you shouldn't even drive in it.)

I hate the winter. A lot. I despise being cold, waiting for the car heater to actually provide heat, and having to locate and zip everyone's jacket, scarf, mittens, hat, socks, boots... (Except for Nathan who still doesn't own a jacket yet. Crazy man. He probably thinks he doesn't need one because he's that hot....which I'll give him.) But really as much as I hate being cold now, I always think back to Rexburg days where we were college student poor. Kendyl and I spent our entire days in my bedroom huddled up to a space heater so we would only have to pay for heat in one room. When we had to go to the kitchen we bundled up in sweats and jackets. I wish I was exaggerating.
And then I think less back to our winters in Denver where one day its sunny and clear, by the morning there is 2 feet of snow, but then by that same afternoon it's clear and 65 again.
But then I think even less back to last winter living back at home in California. No joke it's beginning of February here.
Moral of the post: when it comes to the weather there is always someone who is more miserable than you. (Most likely that person resides in Rexburg, ID). And there is always someone who is totally warm and loving the outdoors. (Yes, we're all jealous you southern Californians.)

So I'll just try to be content in my mid-range winter in Virginia and enjoy all the school closures that happen every time there's a snowflake in the sky. And hope my crazy husband doesn't freeze or slip on the ice and die.

You crack me up but I totally agree - so glad we are done with Rexburg and are enjoying the winter here where yes, even just pretty cold days mean school delays!
