☺

Exactly a year ago we got rid of most of our stuff. It was really, really hard. I cried. Kendyl cried. And well, we all cried. Then Nate drove what we could fit in our car across the country.

For a while we had to live without a lot of things that before we took for granted. And that was really, really hard too.

This Saturday Nathan took the girls for a few hours so I could reclaim some much needed sanity. I cleaned and washed and organized and folded all of our stuff. And then I took some pictures of our home just to document what it can look like.

Looking through the pictures I want to remember how I feel today, a whole year later.

Content and so, so grateful.

Baby no more

For the last 2 and half years Josie has LOVED being the baby. It's kind of amusing becuase she is SO independent and daring. But she even introduces herself as "Baby Josie Pie." And whenever there's a fight with Kendyl over anything, all you have to do is tell Josie she gets the "baby one" she walks away happy. Baby cookie, baby orange, baby socks, baby hat, baby bowl, baby crayon, baby shovel, baby french fry, baby purse, baby, baby, baby. She occasionally likes to act like a baby and wave her hands in the air or snuggle in my arms while she sings Rock-a-bye Baby. "Kendyl's a big girl. I'm a baby." (*arm waving and baby voice*)

Until this week.

Josie has made it quite clear that she is no longer a baby and scoffs at any baby comparisons. "I'm a big girl like Kendyl!" This might seem like a small thing but for those in the Vasher household it throws our family dynamics completely out of wack. It will take some getting used to having two big girls. I mean really...who gets the smaller cookie now? Oh yeah. That would be me :)

So here's to Big Girl Josie Pie. A baby no more. Somehow she survived it.

(Don't worry, she makes it. And 3 pics down was not related.)
Nate dug a 2 foot deep hole and said, "Josie get in." Standing on the cement ledge she jumped straight in...of course.

We love her.

Last week

Despite the complete craziness going on in Boston and reading a lot of news, it was a great week to be outside. We went on hikes in the woods, walks, and to lots of parks.

Not pictured:
Marissa's visit (she kept herself busy downtown)
Kendyl on laughing gas at the dentist
The laundry monster over-taking our home

i can relate

In other news I found my camera. (yay!) It's been MIA on the top of the fridge for a long time. The joy of finding it didn't quite make up for me dropping my phone and completely shattering my screen. (boo!) It still works and if you know me well then you know it was only a matter of time...

We spent a million hours at the park this morning (3 which is super long when your hanging out by yourself. If you are reading this and reside in VA come join me sometime.)  because its in the 80's outside (yay!) which also means it's in the 80's inside. (boo!)

I  started doing some ab and core excersixes again and I've now run 3 miles 5 times since last week (yay!) and we worked out the only system we could think of--Nate meets me at the park by the trail at 6:00pm and I run for about 30 min while he plays with the girls. This means dinner is super late. (boo!) but the girls go to bed...dare I say better? (yay!) They still stink at staying in their own beds. (boo!)

Nate has about a month left before his 50k in West Virginia. We are making a weekend vacation out of it--no kids. (yay!) Vacation weekends cost a lot of money. (boo!)

Mur (my little sister Marissa) is coming to visit on Sat. which is perfect timing for the cherry blossom's downtown. (yay!)

Kendyl went to the dentist and has a million cavities to fill starting next week. (boo!)

Our 5 year anniversary is on Friday. (yay!)

This post is probably boring you. (boo!)

just pictures

Finally got some of Nate's pictures from his phone.

Kendyl's birthday
Kendyl hid from me so she wouldn't have to go to bed.
I opened the door and found her asleep.
Shopping with Daddy
Day before Easter we went on a hike by the Potomac River to hide girls' eggs.
Hidden too hard?

Easter Sunday
(Josie completed her outfit with the socks. I guess they matched. We argued about it for a minute but she won. "But Santa GAVE them to me. Kendyl said I could wear them.")
